Boston MA Business Website

The USS Constitution Museum is a Boston, MA national landmark. A must see for everyone visiting Boston. The Museum collects, preserves, and interprets the stories of Old Ironsides and the people associated with her. They seek to create a positive, memorable experience for all.

In order to bring the story of our nation’s oldest commissioned ship to life, the Museum needed to reevaluate its online presence. Their new site enhances their current marketing efforts,  appeals to a wider range of audiences, and sets them up for success with their future initiatives.  Intuitive navigation allows visitors to quickly and easily find information on exhibits, tickets, donations and upcoming events.

Union Street Media’s work on the project included:

  • Creating a visually engaging design: We lightened up the color scheme, provided visitors with an appealing color palette and increased white space to make reading the content easier.
  • Designing an intuitive information architecture: Content that had previously been buriedwithin the old site was grouped into new categories.  Key pages were given more prominence. This reorganization reduces the amount of time and clicks it takes a visitor to find what they are looking for on http://www.ussconstitutionmuseum.org.
  • Producing wire frames for layout improvements with clear calls to action: Widening the site’s layout created a clean and modern design that allowed us to use more visually engaging elements. The larger photos on the homepage draw visitors further into the site and allows the museum staff to update messaging in a highly visible part of the site. Using engaging text and calls to action like “Support Us”, “Learn & Play” and “Donate” gives visitors a better feel of what the museum offers and helps direct them to pages that might have been previously skipped or ignored.

The end result? The new site allows more people to easily access information about current exhibits, upcoming events, make a donation and purchase tickets. We will be working with the Museum staff well into the future to ensure that the new site achieves those goals.
