A Month of Mindfulness was a month-long stress management campaign held here at USM. Ever since “mindfulness” got a publicist, it has been applied to everything from educational institutions to businesses, parenting, weight loss, sports, horticulture, you name it. While we may not be able to control our stress, we can certainly manage it. The goal of this month-long campaign was to provide our team with information, tips and techniques to help all of us identify when we’re stressed and how to manage it. Our goal was to participate in at least 2 stress-reduction activities each week.
At the end of the month, all employees who completed at least two activities each week and turned in their calendar tracker earned an in-office chair massage! If you completed 20+ activities throughout the month, you were entered into a raffle to win one of three stress relief gift baskets, or the the grand prize of a gift card to The Essex Resort and Spa, a sweet resort up here in Essex, Vermont.
The hope is that by learning and using simple mindfulness techniques, we can all feel happier, calmer, and centered not just when we’re working at the office, but anywhere we happen to be.
